ISLA JUNE is the dreamy project of Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Jenna Maranga. Meandering through genre with intention, Isla June captures the essence of old and new, fusing a deep appreciation of a bygone era of rock, jazz, and soul with close-to-home, melody-driven songwriting.
What began as a solo effort in 2015, Maranga has since evolved Isla June from an acoustic folk fairytale into a psychedelic landscape, featuring members Justin Maranga (Ancestors) on lead guitar, Louie Schultz (Army Navy, Nightjacket) on keys, Philip Galitzine on bass, and TJ Russell on drums —supplementing her sprawling vocal style with loose, root-rock instrumentation and pocket-driven grooves.
Isla June is a band that yearns, pleads, and wears its emotion on its sleeves, with songs that feel like a notion one has in a dream. Soft. Fuzzy at the edges. Yet clear and memorable.
The band recently saw their debut music video for “Knew You When” premiere on Billboard, as well as their single "Strange Times, Dark Days" placed on CW's Riverdale. Their music was featured in Free People stores around the U.S. in 2018, and landed in Spotify's Fresh Finds: Six Strings playlist with their single "Runway."
